The Sheffield Trial

In this trial, people with a long history of intestinal discomfort and bloating were provided with ProVen Adult for 8 weeks. During this time the level of discomfort and bloating was substantially reduced,
compared to a dummy capsule, but they increased again once the people stopped taking ProVen. (Please see our accompanying Sheffield Trial leaflet for a more detailed description).* In this trial two capsules of ProVen Adult was taken with food every day for 8 weeks.

The Addenbrookes Trials

In this series of trials the effects of ProVen was evaluated in people who had a disturbed balance of bacteria in their intestine, following the use of antibiotics. Supplementation with ProVen resulted in a marked shift in the balance of the bacteria away from the less favourable types towards the beneficial probiotic types.** This result was also found for hospitalised people taking antibiotics.*** In these trial, two capsules of ProVen Adult were taken for between 2 and 3 weeks.

The Swansea Trial

Pregnancy and the first part of infancy is critical in the establishment of the first population of bacteria in the intestine and also in the development of the immune system. ProVen is intended to provide the best possible start for baby. In this trial, which is still on-going, mums-to-be were provided with ProVen during the third trimester of pregnancy and their newborn babies were provided with the same product every day for six months.
